Career & Technical Education

Dowell J. Howard Center (DJH) offers a variety of Career and Technical Education (CTE) Programs designed to meet the needs of Frederick County Public School students who wish to gain technical skills, explore different career pathways, earn industry recognized certifications and learn useful skills they will use throughout their lives.

Students from James Wood, Millbrook and Sherando high schools attend DJH. Our programs provide opportunities for hands-on activities that give students real life work experiences. Students who successfully complete a sequence of CTE courses and pass an industry certification exam will receive a "verified credit"  toward graduation requirements.

Applications for classes are available online and can be accessed from each home high school's main webpage.  The online application is placed on the websites beginning in November of the current year for next year's courses.  Applications should be submitted as early as possible as courses are filled on a first come first serve basis.  Students currently enrolled in classes at DJH must fill out an online CTE Application.
