Team Frederick Prepares for National Competition in Las Vegas
Posted on 01/17/2020
Students on Team FrederickDJH and MHS will be taking students to Las Vegas to compete nationally as a National NAHB student chapter. The competition will be held at the International Builder’s Show in Las Vegas.

There are three building trades students from DJH (Lukas, Daniel and Dillon) and two architecture students from MHS (Rebekah and Hunter). The students have created a home building business named Team Frederick. Students have worked closely with Annandale Millwork (employees) experts in the industry, as well as DJH and MHS experts (teachers). The scope of work for the competition included gathering data and using 3-D software in order to create a proposal to build a house according to plans. Team Frederick solicited quotes, contacted building inspection offices in another state, used 3-D software to build steps to specification, wrote a 17-page proposal with all estimates, a mission statement, a logo, etc. to submit prior to the competition.

Team Frederick will present the proposal to the panel of judges (client) in Las Vegas. We are very proud of the students and their hard work. DJH celebrated Team Frederick with all CTE students Thursday, January 16. FCPS faculty working with and traveling to Las Vegas are Mr. Mullins, Building Trades Teacher; Janet Pack, Assistant Principal; and Mr. Campbell, Architecture and Drawing Teacher from MHS. Special thanks go out to Laurie Frogale, Rob Frogale, Cheryl Shepard, and Rob Mohler from Annandale Millwork, TVBA, and builders and employees providing support and giving monetary donations for the trip. Go Team Frederick!
